Week 19

20 May

Slowly but surely it’s getting there. The hair growth that is. However, just like I got impatient when I was bald and named this “the most boring blog ever”, change happens very slowly when you inspect your hair several times a day!!! I am not just looking for changes in growth though, but also on texture. I am trying to work out whether my hair will come back very curly, as it often does after chemo. So far it seems pretty straight to me, but it is possibly too short to really tell yet. All I know is that it feels very dense and thick, and maybe a little darker. It has definitely grown since las week…but still not long enough to really style it. Oh well, as I always say, when it comes to hair growth after chemo you have to be very very patient!

This week’s photos:

And a token one…

I came across your blog while researching chemo head cover options for my MIL, who just started her second round of chemo. I just wanted to say thank you for posting about your journey here; it gives such hope to us that my MIL’s glorious, trademark mane of long, long hair is going to come back. I do have to say, though, that the short hair really works for you. Other than Natalie Portman, I haven’t seen anyone else rock the look quite as chicly!

Hi Amanda! thanks for your lovely comment! it was one of my aims to show others that hair does grow back!although I have to admit that at some point when hair seemed to be growing very slowly I got scared that maybe I would stay bald and that other women who’d gone through chemo would look at the blog and panic! thankfully it didn’t happen. Very flattered too by your comment. Good luck to your mother in law with her chemo treatment. It can be very hard, but, just like anything it passes. Thanks for reading!
